Putting things in perspective

I had lunch with some good friends today and one of my friends made a life changing decision. However, I couldn't help but think..."God is working in her heart." She has chosen to listen to her heart and I couldn't be happier for her. Right now, I'm kind of stuck in what God has planned for me. I'm just not sure what He has in store for me, but I've come to place where I really do love God with all my heart and that's something I've never truly felt or experienced before, but I have a love for Him like none other. In fact, I am trying to fight the tears right now as I'm typing. It's just amazing to me, and I can't wait to see what He has in store for me. I too am going through life changing events right now and I hope I listen to Him like my friend. She really is an inspiration to me ---it's hard to explain, but her decision showed where her heart lies and that's what inspires me. She's basing her decision out of love and not money. You don't see that too much anymore. So thanks, friend :)

I feel refreshed

The words just sank in today at church, "get more involved, connect with God this year, listen to what He wants." I just feel so motivated to go out there and serve. I want to get more involved in church this year and see how I can help. I was amazed at how a family could adopt 2 children into their home and how others just did what God was telling them to do. I know what I want to do, but I just don't see how it's that easy. I would love to run a center for the homeless. Have a place for them to sleep and eat, and help them to get jobs. I'm going to pray and see what happens. I don't have the resources, the knowledge or the financial capabilities right now. Also, maybe God will use me to work in a homeless shelter, or get me involved in His own way. I'll just have to wait and see for now. Oh, but I just love the feeling I have now. Just had to share!!!

3 days away!

Oh I can't wait until Christmas!!! I still have a couple more gifts to get for others. I plan to head out tomorrow and do that after the Terminex man stops by. Andrew & I heard a little noise in the attic the night before last. We'd like to get that checked out as soon as possible. I hate rodents!

I'm also excited to pick up Andrew's cake tomorrow. One of the girls at work is making him an "Over the Hill 30" cake! It's strawberry -his favorite :) Then I'm going to get his little "3o" gift basket ready. I'm going to put differnt kinds of beer and snacks in it, then top it off with a bottle of Turkey. I hope he likes it.

Well, Andrew just started a movie so this makes a perfect time for me to give myself a manicure and pedicure!

7 Random Facts

I was just tagged by Sarah to share seven random facts about myself, then tag 7 other bloggers to do the same. However, I'm still new to this so I may just tag 2 people! lol However, here are my facts; hope you're amazed :)

1. I am standing in a wedding on my birthday in 2009. Feb 21 in case you were wondering the date!

2. I have a small tattoo on my back of angel wings. I got them when I was 18 by a not so professional artist. Think it was his first day on the job from what I can tell. My dad thought they were Nintendo controllers when he first saw them, if that says anything...

3. I have a wonderful grandmother who I call Yaya. Started that nickname when I was younger and it's stuck with the family ever since. She's my wonderful!

4. Speaking of nicknames, I was always called Grover when I was little by my mom. Apparently I used to love the story, "Goodnight Little Grover," and I used to have her read it to me over and over. She began to call me little grover and sometimes she still does!

5. I was a miracle baby and have a huge scar on my stomach to prove it. I had 7 cysts, a gallbladder, an appendix and part of my intestines removed :/ It was not fun for my parents to go through; luckily I was too young to remember, but I do think of how blessed I am to be living. My scar is a reminder.

6. I love to speak in front of large crowds. While it may frighten others, it gives me such a rush. However, I don't like to speak in small groups. Weird, I know.

7. I love Psalm 139. If you've never read it, do so. It makes my eyes water every time because I think of how great God is and how He's always with me.

Ok, that's it and probably way too much info. Hope you're happy Sarah! So now I'm tagging my two other blogger friends:

Lots done, still more to do

Yesterday my sister and I were up early and in line before 4 a.m., ready to hit the stores! We shopped for over 5 hours until we called it quits. I got just about all of the Christmas shopping done, only lacking a few people. I thought I would come home and put up all my decorations, but I was really wanting a nap. So after vegging out on the couch for half of the day, I finally got the energy to put up all the decorations. Now that they're up, our house looks festive, and I get to enjoy them that much longer. Today, I went with my sister-in-laws and their kiddos to Disney on Ice. Very fun! It was my first year to experience the show and it's something I'd like to do when I have kids of my own. I'm going to continue the festivities by seeing Four Christmases tonight with one of my girlfriends. I'm really enjoying this long weekend, better get back to it...

Christmas movies

Tonight I went to the Sam's Club because I had to get some new tires. My old ones were ready to be tossed. While I waited, I did a little Christmas shopping and got a few people off the list. I came home, made some cornbread and a big pot of chili. It was delicious. To top it off, I turned on the TV and began watching a Christmas movie on ABC Family. I'm warm and cozy and enjoying this season. Oh and did I mention that I took the day off? Now I only have 2 work days left then Thanksgiving is here! I'm so excited about the holidays and can't wait until Christmas!
